Matthew Kereama - Director
Matthew Kereama, is a stage and screen actor, singer, and director who has excelled in the performing arts since he was in school. In 2020 Matthew completed a BMus (Hons) majoring in Classical Performance at the University of Auckland where his dissertation focused on the dialogue of opera directors. Over the past eight years Matthew has been working in professional theatres in Auckland, as both a performer and stage director and over this time he has written and produced four theatre productions.
This year Matthew has recently become a co-leader for ATC’s Youth Company. The Youth Company is for actors, directors, designers, writers & theatre artists looking for in-depth, pre-professional training and practical opportunities, at the heart of Auckland Theatre Company.
In 2016, Matthew was picked to be part of the SGCNZ Young Shakespeare Company and travelled to London to study acting at the prestigious Globe Theatre. His stage credits include major roles in DNA, Romeo and Juliet, Te Waka Huia, and Boys.
Matthew has also worked closely with professional directors from New Zealand Opera, Wellington Opera, Auckland Theatre Company, and Te Rehia Theatre Company in Assistant Director roles.
