Raemon Greenwood - The Abbess
Mezzo Raemon’s first foray into opera came when she received a call to be a part of the first Magic Flute production for Canterbury Opera in its beginning years. Since then, she has sung in the chorus of at least 21 operas – honing her stagecraft whilst working alongside an array of incredible directors and singers.
Raemon performed extensively with Southern Opera, both as a member of the Southern Opera Chorus for their mainstage opera productions, and also of the elite Southern Opera Ensemble, which gave concert tours throughout the top of the South Island. During that time, Raemon also performed the delightful role of La Ciesca in Gianni Schicchi.
Since then, Raemon has been a member of the New Zealand Opera Chorus, performing in their mainstage productions in Christchurch, and also of The Opera Club, Christchurch, for which she regularly performs in concerts in and around the city.
Singing has been a part of Raemon’s life for as long as she can remember, and to still be involved and sing with like-minded people is one of her greatest joys in life.
