David Moseley - Baby Bear (Goldie B. Locks and the Three Singing Bears)

Tenor David Moseley, born in Auckland but raised in Blenheim, has been surrounded by music his whole life. However, it has more commonly been the dulcet tones of the brass band, having played the cornet since age 8.

He has enjoyed success in the brass world, having been selected for the New Zealand National Youth Brass Band seven times, and even winning the Amateur Cornet solo competition at the 2012 National Contest. He continues to enjoy brass, playing as Deputy Principal Cornet for the celebrated Woolston Brass in Christchurch.

While he enjoyed singing in musical productions at high school, it is only in 2019 that he reignited this passion and began taking lessons with the incomparable Margot Button. Since then he has taken opportunities to perform both in regional competitions and at concerts around the Ōtautahi region, and even began his opera performance career in 2022 as part of the Christchurch Chorus in NZ Opera's Macbeth

He is a keen learner, having spent several years as a student; he originally came to Christchurch in 2013 to complete a degree in Computer Science at the University of Canterbury, and later went back to complete a Bachelor of Arts in History and English, which he followed up with a Masters in History in 2022. He currently works as an historian and editor for both Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu and the Ngāi Tahu Research Centre at the University of Canterbury.

David looks forward to continuing his musical journey through the world of opera!
