Matilda Wickbom - Dinah (Trouble in Tahiti)

Matilda recently completed her post-graduate studies in Wellington towards a Graduate Diploma in Music at The New Zealand School of Music - Te Kōkī, where she was privileged enough to receive both the Mona Ross Prize for Excellence in Singing, and the New Zealand School of Music Opera Award for Excellence in Performance. Some highlights from her 2021 studies include singing the role of Eurydice in the NZSM production of Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld, and performing in public masterclasses with both Simon O’Neill and Oliver Sewell.

After growing up in Wellington, Matilda moved down to Christchurch to complete a Bachelor of Performing Arts degree, which she graduated from in 2017. Following this she stayed in Christchurch and was involved in numerous productions; attending the New Zealand Opera School in 2019, and was (and still remains) a member of the NZ Opera Chorus from 2018 onwards, performing in Tosca (2018), Trial by Jury (2018), and The Barber of Seville (2019).

This will be Matilda's second time working with Toi Toi Opera, after performing in their 2021 production of Suor Angelica and Elegies (2021) singing the role of Lucretia in Britten's 'The Spinning Scene', and as First Lay Sister in Suor Angelica.
